Local shops and wedding venues see increasing demands for marriage

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX / KJTL) – The pandemic changed many wedding plans over the past year, but those in the wedding industry, like Isn’t She Lovely Wedding Boutique owner Dottie Hoover, said they were over busy than ever with no end in sight.

“The full season, I’m already booking until June of next year, and I have a lot of last minute brides, and when I say last minute, I mean less than six weeks,” Hoover said.

Hoover, who has been helping brides find the perfect dress for 15 years now, said the past year has been tough, not just for her business, but, of course, for her brides.

“It was really tough, but at the end of the day you still marry your loved one,” Hoover said. “No matter how many times you’ve had to postpone, it’s not a big deal, if you will, but being able to take those ‘I’ll take you’ wishes.

Another part of planning the perfect wedding is the venue. Hamilton Ballroom event coordinator Ellen Atkinson said they too saw the wedding rush.

“We actually pick up a lot of stuff, you know. 2020 everyone canceled – I think out of about 30 events we’ve had seven that have their events organized, ”Atkinson said. “This year we have reservations until the end of the year, and we even have a few for next year. “

The quaint ballroom has been a wedding mecca for years now, and helping plan weddings has become Atkinson’s favorite part.

“I love to see how everything is decorated,” Atkinson said. “I like to see happy brides; they come in, and they look up, and they’re absolutely amazed at it in Wichita Falls.

“There isn’t a day that I don’t cry,” Hoover said. “And those are tears of joy, but I’m just as moved as they are.”

Whenever you’re ready to say yes, these local wedding experts will get you ready for your big day.
