McCook, Neb. – LaVonne Roberta Buxton, 91, of McCook, died on Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2021 at McCook Community Hospital. She was born on November 8, 1930 in Ewing, New Brunswick, to Gaylord and Prudence (Rutherford) Albright. She attended school in Page, Neb., And graduated with the Page High School class of 1949. LaVonne continued her education at Wayne State College and Kearney State College, earning a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught for a short time before being married to Arnott W. Buxton on January 11, 1953 in Page. LaVonne and Arnott were lucky enough to have seven children: Julieanne, Barbara, William, Cherri, Susan, Jane and Kevin whom they raised in McCook.

LaVonne was a woman of faith who took joy in the simple and quiet things of life. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family and was blessed with 91 years of memories and lessons that will be carried forward by her loving family. LaVonne has been involved in various Bible studies and a precious fellowship with the Body of Christ.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Arnott; brothers, Melvin and Sterling; sisters, Dorothy and Inez; sisters-in-law, Donna and Becky; and brothers-in-law, Clifford and Omer.

She is survived by her children: Julieanne McShannon of Lincoln, Neb., Barbara (Gary) Bradney of Kearney, Neb., William (Karen) Buxton of Brighton, Colorado, Cherri (Rob) Putz of McCook, Neb., Susan Marsh of Lincoln, Neb., Jane (Bobby) Hundt of Lincoln, and Kevin (Amber) Buxton of Broadhead, Wisconsin; sister, Joan Hoffman of Clearwater, Neb .; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church in McCook with Pastor Rob Putz as celebrant. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 27, 2021 at Page Cemetery in Page, Neb. The casket will be opened before church services for those who wish to see it.
